Take a Walk on the Wildside

Take a walk on the wildside at Inzievar woods - the natural adventure playground, explore the natural dens and hideouts, discover where the deer come down to water, look out for signs of foxes.

Woodlands are great play areas for all ages, from a slow saunter with the dog to an adventure packed jungle exploration with a five year old. We encourage you to step off the path and discover the woodland for yourself.

Woodlands offer great areas for kids to run wild, why not organise a play group bear hunt, a sausage sizzle, or a treasure hunt. A fire can be lit in the fire circle by the pond but must be put out before you leave.

Woodlands are a wonderful community resource, they are also part of the rural economy and form part of someone's livelihood. All we ask is that you leave the woods as you find them for others to enjoy

Composting Toilets

Exciting news
Composting toilets have been installed at Inzievar!

Perhaps this news doesn’t leave you trembling on the edge of your seat. However just think of the possibilities:-

  • Take your school or group for a visit, party or wide game in the woods. Don’t just go for a walk come for a day and let the kids run wild.
  • Expertise on composting toilets now available, we are happy to give advice and information for others setting up toilets
  • Interest in low impact buildings – come and see our green oak frame, larch cladding and shingled building, all made from local timber using local workforce.

Seriously, composting toilets themselves may not be the most exciting thing of the millennium, however they offer an important part in the sustainable management of our countryside, community woodlands and wilder amenities. If you would like more information about installing and managing composting toilets call us or come and see for yourselves

Thanks to our funders Hanson Environment Fund, Fife Environment Trust and Fife Council who have helped make this possible

Forest Festival

The forest festival is the highlight of the year when all sorts of things go on down at the woods we have had hundreds of teddy's roaming free at a teddy bears picnic in May 2000, the next year we were joined by a dragon, Draeko, and a new legend was created (download the legend of Draeko here) - you can still see signs of Draeko the dragon in the woods. Last year we made huts, dreamweavers and other woodland arts.

Inzievar is within easy reach by road or by bike. It is situated on the outskirts of Oakley on the Oakley-Cairneyhill road and parking is available at the nearby Holy Name Chapel. Alternatively follow the directions on the sign at the Oakley exit of the Dunfermline- Alloa cycle track.
